    THE MINI-FASTNET

    The origins of the race:

    Originaly

With the Mini-Transat, the Mini-Fastnet Race is one of the most reputable in the Calendar Mini.

    History of the Mini Class

Mini-Fastnet will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year while many races mark out the nautical year of the Mini Class.

    Douarnenez

At the bottom of the bay, just as fishing port that mecca of racing, known Douarnenez welcome and invited to stay!

    Today’s Mini world

The Mini Class today is made up of some four hundred members, most of whom are sailors, from all a wide variety of social/professional backgrounds, from carpenter and engineer, through nurse and steward, to journalist and professional skipper. Above all, it’s the association of those who are passionate about these fabulous small boats and who want their share of wild surfing, nightmarish budgets, the whims of the wind god Aeolus and the many moments of happiness the sea has to offer!

"Ministes " skim the Atlantic as much as the Mediterranean, thanks to rigorous racing terms and conditions and race organisers who have established high quality links of both a nautical and convivial nature with sailors and the association alike.

    The boat

An ocean racing laboratory for over 25 years, Minis fall into one of two categories: either SERIES or PROTOS. The Class has seen over 600 boats built since 1985 of which half are prototypes.

Since 1995, the Series successor to the renowned Muscadet (Harlé design) has been the Pogo (Rolland design), joined in 2000 by the Super-Calin. The Pogo 2 (Finot-Conq design) made its entrance after the 2003 Mini-Fastnet 2003.

      The objective is security

One of the key concepts of the class is to develop the Minis in the sense of security, while keeping their side very sporty and innovative. This idea marked the enduring memory of a few perils of the sea, has led to create a couple boat / rider who is among the safest in the circuit. Responsibility, design, materials, controls, seamanship: on a Mini, everything is max.
